The only time my desk has flowers on it is after I work a wedding. And it is usually a leftover bridesmaid bouquet, because my standards are high and I can’t arrange flowers like the pros. The bouquet will then sit there until the stench of decay overpowers that of my Voluspa candle.

So, if you are looking for beautifully styled workspace inspiration – this isn’t it. Yes, I have a beautifully designed space (thanks to many friends who helped with that project). My desk is where I WORK, not where I sit and daydream and doodle in my Rifle journal. I plan events. I am a mom.  I need efficiency and to know where my hole-punch is. I have a white board – which I snuck a tiny inspirational quote on to – but it is mostly to make sure my clients feel taken care of and I stay on top of all my to do’s.

Here are pics of mine, notice the sweat rings from water, wine spots….from wine, and the empty coffee mug that hasn’t made it’s way to the kitchen. And pens, tons of them, because I am a hoarder of PENS! And I steal them from restaurants, hotels, and sometimes my friend Stacy because she always has my favorite and has had more wine than me when the check comes.

Peonies are ridiculously beautiful, but my sanity is even more so. Besides, that little Anthro bud vase would probably topple over and spill water on my laptop and I would spend 2 days crying at the Apple store screaming “but you are supposed to be a genius!”
